First of all, a huge debt of gratitude is owed ME, for putting this whole damn thing together in the first place! You may now genuflect (seriously, if you'd like to know more about yours truly visit Kid Fanboy's Obsessive-Compulsive Page or a.k.a. Shoeman's Anxiety Disorders Page). [both have gone tits-up] Following is a list (presented in no particular order) of those eBay irregulars who've contributed directly and significantly to the FAQ. I will also include a brief notation on several others whose contributions have been of a more indirect nature, although no less significant. Thanks!
WHBJR Okay, so I lied. Win (known as the "Rabid Badger") is listed first because he ragged me on a daily basis to get this section of the FAQ up-and-running! The squeaky wheel gets the oil, and he's just about the squeakiest wheel I know... Win is responsible for the "Appropriate and Inappropriate Postings" article under Post It Notes, has contributed material on the pros and cons of "slabbing" for Know-it-Alls, and--although the student has since surpassed the master--was an invaluable programming resource early on. With eBay's Comics Board virtually since its inception, this Skippy Credit winner is one of the most helpful and knowlegeable folks you could ever hope to chat with.
HOKNES Our resident singing cowboy, Terry has the honorable distinction of being eBay's #3 Canadian seller (and the dubious distinction of being eBay's #1 Pokemon dealer). A true professional who writes for a prominant comic book periodical, his regular posting of the monster "Complete Guide to Comic Books" was--in part--the inspiration for this FAQ. That post (dubbed The Big Ape by myself as a nod to both its size and the fact that Terry runs the International Planet of the Apes Fan Club) remains to this day an important part of this endeavor. Need info on everything from the obvious to the obscure? Look no further than this outstanding eBayer.
STUPIDMAN Ask a stupid question and get a stupid answer! I'll be the first to admit that Stu's user id is ironic, albeit only under duress... He is the one responsible for answering your most frequently asked questions (FAQ You). A "bottom feeder" in the truest sense of the phrase, he has the industry insight and testicular fortitude to call 'em as he sees 'em. He can frequently be found on the board imparting his unique brand of wisdom and corrupting the innocent collector, all the while keeping his unfaithful sidekick (Kid Fanboy) appropriately kicked to the side! A national treasure, plain and simple.
RASHKA Single-handedly responsible for costing me hundreds of dollars, this chat diva will have you hooked on collecting original art faster than you can say "stiletto". Her practical advice on and passionate embrace of this aspect of collecting are the two reasons I pursued her to contribute "Original Art for Newbies" (found under OG Artwork) after one of eBay's top art dealers submitted a less-than-helpful article. An exceptional artist in her own right, Carla is a brilliant conversationalist and an absolute asset to eBay's Comics Board. Oh, and did I mention she'll swallow your soul given half a chance?
RCHELI My "foil", Raphe and I disagree on just about everything, except Dos and Don'ts for buyers and sellers on eBay. Hideously intelligent, I have yet to see a topic introduced to the board that he doesn't have information and/or an opinion on. About as straight a shooter as they come, he won't hesitate to take you to task when you're in error... or to admit to his own, albeit infrequent, errors. A truly challenging individual in the best sense, I can't level enough praise upon this eBayer (mostly because he plays poker with the Kuberts).
JSOUTHA1 Another contributor to Post It Notes, Jim is an expert on disarming conflict... And why not? He certainly creates enough of it on his own! I'm kidding, of course. He does a superlative job of keeping us on an even keel on those rare occasions when tempers flare on the board. Bear in mind, however, that he's also not afraid to stand on principle or defend those who may find themselves under attack. It takes a good man to stand his ground, a great man to walk away, and Jsoutha to slap the others around until they come to their senses!
SPECTRE52 When I needed an article on restoration for Know-It-Alls, there was no question who to turn to. Matt is one of the top professionals in the business, an erstwhile eBayer, and has written articles for everyone from Bob Overstreet to... me! His training for this craft included a tutelage with Bill Sarill, the man who pioneered restoration techniques for comics over 20 years ago. Unlike the rest of us, this guy's actually touched the Mile High Whiz #1, which has led both to my eternal envy and another article on pedigreed collections!
